I’ve known since I was a little girl in Curaçao, cutting up my My Size Barbie’s hair like it was a real consultation, that I was always going to do hair. But nobody tells a ‘smart kid’ to become a hairdresser, so I went to the Netherlands and enrolled in law school.
Life had other plans. I dropped the law books and enrolled in a hair academy. It turned out I wasn’t just good, I was a natural. So much so that when I graduated, they offered me a teaching position on the spot. I said no. I wanted the battlefield first.
That battlefield became Hairsalon Cherie: five years voted number one ‘Best of the Best’ in Curaçao and three years number two. More than a decade of a fully booked chair, a strong team, and a reputation that spoke for itself.
Throughout my career, I kept seeing the same thing: incredible Caribbean talent that needed real training, real business education, and the mindset to build something that lasts. The talent was always there. The training wasn’t.
After twelve years, I chose to close the best salon on the island—not because it failed, but because it was time to build something bigger. That decision became Hairlines & Headlines, the Caribbean’s first digital beauty academy, created so the next generation of stylists doesn’t have to figure it out alone.
